Xi’an and Qingdao have joined the club of cities with over 5 million permanent residents, according to the latest yearbook from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Currently, the number of club members has expanded from 13 to 15, and six of them boast more than 10 million people each.

(6) Tianjin: Urban population: 12.97 million
(7) Wuhan: Urban population: 9.18 million
(8) Chengdu: Urban population: 8.38 million
(9) Dongguan: Urban population: 6.85 million
(10) Nanjing: Urban population: 6.57 million
(11) Hangzhou: Urban population: 6.51 million
(12) Zhengzhou: Urban population: 6.26 million
