A total of 380 million passenger trips have been made during the 2022 Spring Festival travel rush so far, data from the Ministry of Transport showed Tuesday. Meanwhile, 86.16 million railway passenger trips were made in the first 15 days of the annual travel rush, up 65 percent compared with the same period in 2021, data from the China State Railway Group showed.
A total of 156.64 million tonnes of goods were also delivered during the period, an increase of 1.01 million tonnes or 0.7 percent year on year, data from the group showed. In the 40-day travel season, also known as chunyun in Chinese, many Chinese people travel to reunite with their families for the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on February 1 this year.
