Baicha Village is located in Jiangbian Town, Dongfang City, Hainan Province. The thatched cottages in Baicha Village are like boats turned upside-down, and the villagers call them “boat houses.” There are 81 boat houses in the village and they are examples of the excellent architectural skills of the Li ethnic group. In 2008, the boat houses of this village were included in China’s intangible cultural heritage protection list. Watch the video:
