Continuous fostering of the business environment in China is an important measure to hedge external risks and uncertainties amid the COVID-19 pandemic, said a spokesperson at the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Wednesday. China’s economy exceeded 100 trillion yuan (about $15.47 trillion) in 2020, and was the only major economy to post positive growth, the CPPCC spokesperson Guo Weimin said.

A better business environment holds the key to invigorating market entities and invigorating growth. Themed deliberation chat groups were established, he said. “We will secure new progress in the beginning year of the 14th Five Year Plan period.”

Over 130 state-owned, private, or foreign firms participated in comprehensive studies. State Council departments set up designated programs to follow up, Guo said.
