In Shanghai, coffee is a part of everyday life. Even though it originated in Africa and became popular in the West, coffee has become indispensable to Shanghai residents’ daily life. The eastern Chinese metropolis hosts nearly 8,000 large and small coffee shops, more than any other city in the world. Coffee shops worldwide are dominated by famous chains such as Starbucks and Costa. Shanghai used to be no different, but in recent years, changes have occurred. CGTN’s Wang Tianyu has the story.
