“I’m here to improve the China-U.S. relations.” Chinese ambassador to the U.S. Qin Gang told American journalists on Monday, after nearly 5 months working in the U.S. He said he took office in July “amid huge challenges” in this relationship, but he will work as a bridge between the two giants and make the ties “stable, manageable and constructive.”
“I’ll meet with all walks of life in the U.S. to clarify China’s strategic goals and avoid miscalculations.” Qin told journalists. China said its strategic goal has nothing to do with surpassing or replacing the U.S., but is focused on improving people’s livelihoods and building a better China.
