Chinese national gymnastics team receives two additional Olympic spots for Tokyo as the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) canceled the all-around World Cup series on Wednesday. The four-meet World Cup, which is also part of Tokyo’s Olympic qualification system, was supposed to happen in March and April 2020 in Milwaukee, Stuttgart, Birmingham and Tokyo. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Monday that maintaining communications at various levels between China and the United States will facilitate mutual understanding and the development of bilateral ties. Spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks at a daily press briefing, after US President Joe Biden said recently that the United States doesn’t wish to see conflict with China.
