Rest spots tell Shanghai’s history through merchandise

Twenty-two little houses along the east bank of the Huangpu River are called “Wangjiangyi,” or waterfront stations. They are places where people can take a rest. Each station has a theme. Station No. 4, named “Discovery,” is one of the most popular stations. It tells the history of Shanghai’s reform and opening-up through merchandise. Not only can you find imported goods from decades ago, popular products from previous editions of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) are also on display. And if you get your eyes on something, you can just scan the QR code next to it and place an order on your phone.

From old factory to modern theater

The 1862 Art Center, which is also located along the east bank of the Huangpu River, used to be a place to manufacture large-scale ships. It was turned into a theater in 2018 and various remarkable performances injected new vitality into the old factory.

Highest bookstore in Shanghai

The Duoyun Bookstore is located on the 52nd floor of Shanghai Tower. This skyscraper is the tallest building in China. It is not just a bookstore, people can also enjoy the best view of the Huangpu River here over a cup of coffee. The high-quality cultural life reflects the development of the Pudong New Area, and the area will continue to bring more of the colorful life to the public.
