If there’s one thing about Jingxingu Hotel Project, or “Shuisi Building”, it’s the thrilling feeling that strike every visitor when they first lay eyes on the structure.
The magnificent and somewhat outlandish design incorporates the customs and architectural elements of the Shui, Buyi and Miao ethnic groups. It’s located in the Jingxin Valley Scenic Area in Dushan County of southwest China’s Guizhou Province. This 24-story building spans 5,900 square meters, with a height of 99.9 meters. And once completed it is expected to set three new Guinness World Records, including the world’s highest construction with Shui, Buyi and Miao ethnic elements.
The construction was at the core of a tourist adventure project initiated by Dushan County authorities that was aborted two years ago. What’s the future of the Shuisi Building? The question has drawn a lot of attention online recently, especially after a video shot by an influencer and reporter informed the public that the building cost more than 200 million yuan and had further plunged the poor county’s finance into mess.
In response, Dushan County authorities announced that a new team had revised the concept since 2019 and was dedicated to rectifying any problems. The government has assigned a new contract based on a market-oriented operation model and construction will resume in the near future.
